Producing work that is epic in concept, sound, and artistic approach, Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra, the masterminds and multi-instrumentalists behind ZOMBI, have re-imagined the architecture of progressive rock and dynamic instrumentals, carving a niche in underground music distinctly their own. The band’s signature sound, achieved using only electric bass, drums, and a collection of analog synthesizers, is deceptively lush considering its two man skeleton crew ensemble. Moore’s bass playing and meticulous synthesizer programming interacts seamlessly with Paterra’s controlled, precision drumming, as if each man is anticipating his counterpart’s next move. Punctuated by Moore and Paterra’s seasoned songwriting skills, each Zombi song, whether grand in design like Light Rhythms from the band’s forthcoming LP or powerful and driving like Orion, the opening track on Cosmos, is entirely autonomous and true to the duo’s creative vision.
“I bring a lot of skeletal ideas to the table: basslines, sequences, and drum parts. Steve will then craft them into complete songs,” Paterra explains. “There is a musical trust that exists between us that allows for full exploration of all ideas. We are perfectionists, sometimes to a fault, but I think it is a quality that lends itself well to the music.” “We share the same goal, which is simply to create music that we enjoy rather selfishly,” Moore adds. “We have a similar list of influences as well, both of us having grown up listening to progressive and classic rock. So when it comes time to write, we’re basically completing each other’s thoughts.”
Following the success of Cosmos, Zombi’s critically-acclaimed debut album for Relapse Records and a series of national tours with artists like Dillinger Escape Plan, The Fucking Champs, Red Sparowes, Panthers, and Breather Resist, Moore and Paterra regrouped in Chicago to begin work on their next full-length album. “Surface To Air is a genuinely progressive album: bigger, denser, and more dynamic than anything we’ve done before,” Moore says. “Its still dark and cinematic, but without being kitschy like some of our earlier releases. The album is an accurate representation of who we are and where we are headed as a band,” Paterra adds. “It is the culmination of a style and sound we’ve been honing since our inception, but it also puts us in a new direction, one that I am excited to explore.”
Larger in scope and sound, Surface To Air is an evolutionary album, anchored by the distinct melodic and technically complex sound Zombi has become known for, but more mature and forward-thinking in its overall conceptual approach. While the track listing may at first appear lean at a mere five songs, the attentive listener will soon realize that Moore and Paterra have composed and assembled more than 40 minutes of emotive, dynamic, multi-layered music making Surface To Air a magnum opus in its own right. Informed by the music and boundary-pushing work ethic of icons like Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Van Halen, and Pink Floyd, Moore and Paterra rely just as much on inspiration from the past as they do on their own skill and musical knowledge during the songwriting process. On Surface To Air, the integrity of tracks like Challenger Deep with its powerful, driving bassline, and the mysterious mounting tension of Digitalis are indisputable evidence of Zombi’s artistic growth and allegiance to producing a diverse and progressive body of work. Legacy,however, sidesteps, revealing a more introspective direction in Moore and Paterra’s work, while the album’s title track, Surface To Air, opens with a frantically-paced and hypnotic synthesizer-laden melody.
Experimenting with a vast new sound, Zombi proves that charging forward with an expansive vision can open doors to an entirely new realm. Hijokaidan
Hijokaidan was formed by Jojo Hiroshige and Naoki Zushi in 1979 in Kyoto, and it is considered the first noise band in Japan and perhaps in the world. They have played full volume improvisational noise for more than 25 years, and have become well known in the world as "King of Noise". Naoki Zushi
left the band in 1980. However, in the same year the band got a new member, T-Mikawa. Around 1980 to 1982, Hijokaidan had various people playing in the band, and it got great attention by the media for their destructive performances. In the latter half of the 80's, JUNKO and Fumio Kosakai became regular members. After these additions, Hijokaidan settled with 4 members
who are Jojo, T-Mikawa, JUNKO and Kosakai, though they occasionally perform with guests. They played with Nao Shibata, the drummer in 2004. Their popular album "Zouroku No Kibyo" came out in 1982 and has been a longstanding hit. Hijokaidan have done many shows overseas, and have
released their works on labels in England, the United States and Spain.

Avandoned
The gAbandoned Idol Grouph formed by members that were rejected at other idol auditions. After practicing and performing on the street, they made their debut in July 8th, 2014.
They have mainly been active at live venues in Tokyo, and they also have had opportunities to perform at notable events in Japan.
On their one-year anniversary in July 2015, they released their first mini-album gTenmetsu Bye-ByeiBlink Bye Byejh which invites the modern poet Tahi Saihate for the lyrics of the title song. They also collaborated and performed with the King Of Noise gHijokaidanh as gAva-Kaidanh in that same month.
In September, they performed at the Natsu-No-Mamono AOMORI ROCK FESTIVALf15 held at the Yogoshiyama Ski Park in Aomori prefecture, and they are now working on their new mini album that is planned to be the first release coming out from TRASH-UP!! RECORDS, which is the music label started up by the trash culture magazine TRASH-UP!!
They are currently the most real idol group in Tokyo.

Developed by Yoshimitsu Ichiraku, DoraVideo is a computer system controlling drums as well as a solo of him. Having been suffering from waist pain , Ichiraku resigned as a drummer and restarted his music career when Tkrworks released DORAnome, a real-time remixing instrument of music image. Unlike the music from other musical instrument, Ichiraku composed is unique music with his own ideas. With DoraVideo, Ichiraku are well-received in rock music festivals, Jazz festivals, media art festivals, movie festivals, and art festivals worldwide. In 2005, nominated by the digital music department, he won the Honorary Mention in Ars Electronica. In June 2007, he was invited to participated in La Biennale di Venezia, and attended World Expo in Spain on behalf of Japan in August, 2008. In 2009, he took part in the performance in SMAP x SMAP. In the field of new media art with overwhelming serious works, Ichirakufs works incorporate common, coarse, and even vulgar entertainment. Currently, with the instruments sponsored by Vestaxs and Cacio, he is making DORAnome3, a highly completed work.

Jeff Carey makes hardcore digital music with a joystick, a gamer keypad, and an array of strobe lights. Computer based synthesis, noise, and improvisation combined with a no-safety-net aspect of gestural control makes his music totally physical and visceral. Jeff Carey has performed on many tours including Europe and Japan with Matmos. In early 2016, he will perform on a tour with Torche(relapse records) and as part of MultipleTaps USA tour.

Starting out from the exhibition “The Great Triangle” held in 2010 at gallery Baikado(Osaka), The Great Triangle is a trio formed by Makoto Oshiro, Takahiro Kawaguchi and Satoshi Yashiro. They occasionally gather and do live performances.
Makoto Oshiro:
Born 1978 in Okinawa, Japan. Oshiro is a performer and artist. His main medium is sound, but he also combines other elements such as light, electricity and movement of objects. In live performances, he uses self-made tools and instruments that are based on electronic devices, every day materials and junk. His installation work mainly handles sound as a physical and auditory phenomena, and focuses on characteristics such as vibration and interference.
Takahiro Kawaguchi:
Born in Osaka, 1980.In 2000, Kawaguchi started thinking about field recordings. His interest lies not in the kind of field recordings that focus on sound tones obtained in the field, but on the configuration of sound in a specific space. He creates recorded works using sound-making objects, presents installations, and is active in the field of improvised music.?
Satoshi Yashiro:
Yashiro had made a self-propelled woofer on wheels and began to show it at exhibitions and use it at live performances sometime around the year 2003. He is a member of the artist run space “HIGHTI”, which is an abandoned factory that was renovated by him and several artists. He also belongs to the drum and mobile woofer band “Motallica”.
MultipleTap is the Japanese scene, in the form of chaos and excess not seem in the other part of the world, made into the festivals. Only born in the small islands of Far East Asia, the “Japanese Scene”, show overwhelming power and chaos, will continue to disseminate to the world.
Having toured UK, Mexico, Germany, China, Belguim, Denmark, France. Now will prepare for US

PSYCHIC TV BIO: PSYCHIC TV is a video art and music group that primarily performs psychedelic, electronic, punk and experimental music. The band was formed by performance artist Genesis P-Orridge and video director Peter Christopherson (after the break up of Throbbing Gristle) together with musician and producer Alex Fergusson (ex-Alternative TV). Christopherson left to form Coil with fellow PTV member John Balance around 1984, and Fergusson left in 1987, leaving P-Orridge in charge of a rotating band lineup.
Contributions to Psychic TV have included artists such as Coil, Current 93, Hafler Trio, The Cult, White Stains, Soft Cell, XKP, Master Musicians of Jajouka, Matthew Best, Daniel Simon Black, Bill Breeze, Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, Derek Jarman, Fred Giannelli, John “Zoskia” Gosling, Timothy Leary, Rose McDowall, Stephen Kent, Vagina Dentata Organ, Andrew Weatherall, Z’EV, Zef Noi$e, and many others.
PTV can not be seen as regular band/group but more as a collective of musicans, artists, painters and others that made their contribution under the PTV umbrella. PTV had for many years their own record label Temple where they released music by PTV as well as Dave Ball (ex Soft Cell) and others. In many ways PTV followed in the same lane as Throbbing Gristle did, but did it into something more. The first years of PTV the music was experimental and sometimes noise. Later they changed their musical direction into electronica as well as techno.

THE ALL-NIGHTERS is an evolving installation embracing iterative creative practice as a basis for communication and response. 4 artists each have a 72 hour work cycle at SEDIMENT, living and working in the gallery and overlapping with the following artist–inviting possibilities for collaboration. A 10ft x 10ft x 8ft three-walled structure built inside the gallery serves as the ultimate point of convergence for processing, arranging, and presenting the artists work. At the conclusion of the work cycles, the walled structure will be unveiled along with virtual documentation of the process. All-Nighters artists have supplied limited material-lists for the local Richmond community to donate. Ranging from raw materials to invitations for participation, the All-Nighters may use only the materials that the public has offered.

"Experimental collective (with aggressive noise, avant-garde, and post-punk leanings) formed by Tom Smith and Rat Bastard in 1991. A third member, Ben Wolcott, joined in 1993. Smith had previously been in the groups Boat Of, Pussy Galore, and Peach of Immortality. Bastard had been in Miami-based trio Scraping Teeth; Wolcott was a filmmaker and sound designer. Their debut release was 1994's "30-Minuten Mannercreme." Went on a three-year hiatus beginning in 2000, during which time Smith formed the "Actionist" ensemble Ohne, and Bastard focused on his Laundry Room Squelchers group. TLASILA reformed in 2003; recordings and tours have followed, and the line-up has grown to include all-star players including members of Sonic Youth and Sightings. Group's recordings combine elements of musique concrete, noise, heavy dub, and pervasive electronics to create often violent, but increasingly lyrical backdrops which frame vocalist Smith's literate, oddly disturbing croon."

Pharmakon, Mutwawa and Coteries at Sediment Arts - Style Weekly
Pharmakon
The audio assemblages of New York-based sound manipulator
Margaret Chardiet are made and conveyed with combative intent. As
Pharmakon, she doesn’t go on pleasure cruises. Rather, Chardiet makes
soundtracks for readings of Dante’s “Inferno.” There’s a stealthy sexual
quality to her Dadaesque workouts on her latest release, “Bestial
Burden.” From the bare-boned abrasion of “Body Betrays Itself” to the
caustic pounding of “Autoimmune,” Chardiet uses her throat as a sensual
weapon. It’s a sound tailor-made to weed people out. But if you like
Thomas Pynchon, Hannah Höch and early Einstürzende Neubauten, it will be
sweet music to your ears. She brings her tonal revulsions to Sediment
Arts on Friday, Jan. 30. Richmond analog terrorists Mutwawa and
noise-pushers Coteries set the divisive mood beforehand. Doors open at 8

"Margaret Chardiet was born and raised in New York City. She has been making power electronics/ death industrial music under the name Pharmakon for five years. As a founding member of the Red Light District collective in Far Rockaway, NY she has been a figurehead in the underground experimental scene since the age of seventeen. Several projects emerged from the Red Light home/ venue during the four years Chardiet lived there including Yellow Tears, and Halflings amongst others. She points out that the environment there amongst so many other experimental artists inspired her to keep pushing herself and making increasingly challenging work. She describes her drive to make noise music as something akin to an exorcism where she is able to express, her "deep-seated need/drive/urge/
Four days before New York noise musician Margaret Chardiet was supposed leave for her first European tour as Pharmakon, she had a medical emergency which resulted in a major surgery. Suddenly, instead of getting on a plane, she was bedridden for three weeks, missing an organ. "After seeing internal photographs taken during the surgery, I became hyperaware of the complex network of systems just beneath the skin, any of which were liable to fail or falter at any time," Chardiet said. "It all happened so fast and unexpectedly that my mind took a while to catch up to the reality of my recovery. I felt a widening divide between my physical and mental self. It was as though my body had betrayed me, acting as a separate entity from my consciousness. I thought of my corporeal body anthropomorphically, with a will or intent of its own, outside of my will's control, and seeking to sabotage. I began to explore the idea of the conscious mind as a stranger inside an autonomous vessel, and the tension that exists between these two versions of the self." Consumed by these ideas, and unable to leave her bed, Chardiet occupied herself by writing the lyrics and music that would become Bestial Burden, the second Pharmakon LP for Sacred Bones Records.
The record is a harrowing collection of deeply personal industrial noise tracks, each one brimming with struggle and weighted with the intensity of Chardiet's internal conflict. Bestial Burden was recorded at Heaven Street Records in Brooklyn, N.Y. with Sean Ragon (Cult of Youth, Venerence), who also recorded 2013's critically acclaimed Abandon. That album led to extensive touring with Swans, Godflesh, and The Haxan Cloak, as well as a litany of glowing press from the likes of Pitchfork (8.0 review), The New Yorker (full-page print feature), The New York Times, The Fader, The Wire, and more. As an avid listener of noise, industrial, and power electronics, Ragon understood that the usual rules of recording sometimes need to be thrown out the window to capture the best possible performance. He allowed Chardiet to experiment with a mix of live recording and tracking, and some of the vocals were recorded live with a small group of people packed into the studio so she could feed off their energy. The result of those sessions is the bar-raising follow-up to Abandon, and an invitation to go even deeper into the sometimes terrifying, always fascinating labyrinth that is Margaret Chardiet's mind."

Container, Timeghost, Mutwawa and Flesh Control at Sediment Arts - Style Weekly

The problem I have with electronic music these days is that
most of what I hear sucks. It’s like sexless disco, lazy and inert, with
your proclivity for drug use in direct correlation to your appreciation
of the form. One notable exception is Container, the one-man,
Nintendo-techno freak-out of Ren Schofield. His is a brew of Krautrock
yearning, oppressive bass-booming propulsions and melodic noise.
“Adhesive,” the four-track EP that Schofield released this year on
Liberation Technologies, is my favorite electronic release since
Squarepusher’s 1997 EP “Big Loada,” and every time I put it on, I hear
something new. Container brings the noise to Sediment Arts on Friday,
Aug. 29. Timeghost from Providence, R.I., and Richmond’s own Mutwawa and
Flesh Control open. Doors open at 208 E. Grace St. at 7 p.m. Admission
is a suggested donation of $10-$15. sedimentarts.org.
